Councilwoman Stroker Represents Hazelwood on the Great Rivers Greenway Board
Hazelwood's Ward 1 Councilwoman Carol Stroker is one of four new appointees to the board of directors for the Great Rivers Greenway District (GRG), a region-wide system of greenways, parks and trails known as The River Ring.
Great Rivers Greenway represents the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Charles County. Its 12-member board of directors oversees the distribution of funds for developing The River Ring. The board also supports Great Rivers Greenway's mission to create a green, clean and connected St. Louis region.
2010 Census Shows Need for Expansion
In response to the 2010 Census results, St. Louis County Executive Charlie A. Dooley, St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann and St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay met, as required by state law, to determine how to reallocate board members.
According to GRG, they made the decision to add a board member from St. Louis County and St. Charles County, accounting for two of the four new board members. The other three new board appointees include these individuals: Patrick Sullivan (St. Charles County), executive vice president of the Home Builders Assocation of St. Louis and Eastern Missouri; Julie Mueller (St. Charles County), vice president and COO of Lindenwood University; and Carol Klein (St. Louis County), board member of the Audubon Center at Riverlands and retired president of KleinLines Marketing Communications.
