Employment Policy

All applicants will be given equal consideration for all positions with the City, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, marital or veteran status, or the presence of a non-job-related medical condition or disability. However, Hazelwood residents will be given preference over nonresidents for positions when all qualifications of the applicants are equal. Applicants shall not be relatives of elected City officials.


 General Philosophy of City Employment

All employees work toward the same goal, to provide efficient and economical municipal services to the citizens of Hazelwood. This can be achieved by mutual employee cooperation. The City shall not discriminate against any employee because of his activities or membership in an employee union or employee advisory committee.


Days of Pay

Employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis, for the two (2) week period ending the previous Saturday, except as necessary to comply with applicable laws. Paydays are every other Friday.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

The City of Hazelwood, Mo., seeks a Director of Finance to serve as CFO and supervise its Finance functions. The City of Hazelwood operates under a stable Council/Manager form of government. It is home to five Fortune 500 companies and has a dense CBD, three universities, and historic neighborhoods.  General Fund is $24M. Starting salary $70,760-92,000 DOQ, plus excellent benefits. Position works under the direction of the City Manager to recommend financial and administrative policy to the City Manager and City Council. Bachelor's degree in related field, plus eight years' experience. And audit, bond financing, cash management, and debt management are desirable. Seeking a leader with strong municipal finance experience in a highly complex municipal setting. RECREATION LEADER 1
PERMANENT PART-TIME

The City of Hazelwood's Parks and Recreation Division is seeking an energetic, customer service oriented individual to work part-time in the City's two recreation facilities.  The permanent part-time position requires high school graduation or GED equivalency and one year of college. Previous experience in customer service with public contact preferred. Candidates must be available for flexible day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Starting pay is $7.46 per hour. Duties include front-line business transactions, supervision of patrons using the facilities, and upholding City policy. Deadline for applications is Fri., Dec. 9, 2011. PART-TIME CUSTODIAN

The City of Hazelwood's Parks and Recreation Division is seeking to hire a part-time custodian to work a flexible schedule, Sundays through Saturdays, evenings and holidays, as needed at the rate of $10.45 per hour. Responsibilities include custodial/housekeeping duties and rental set up/clean up. The Hazelwood Fire Department (HFD) is partnering with Hazelwood School District and the American Red Cross for the 2012 Great Central U.S. ShakeOut, scheduled for Tues., Feb. 7, at 10:15 a.m.  Not only is the HFD helping to educate school children about what to do when an earthquake occurs, but also the HFD is inviting all City employees and residents of Hazelwood to participate in this largest earthquake drill ever.

MO Bottom Road Remains Closed

Missouri Bottom Road from Tulip Tree Lane to St. Louis Mills Boulevard is closed and will not be re-opened until the reconstruction project for this roadway is finished.  The project is expected to begin in fall 2011 and be completed by the end of 2012.
